HOW TO DELETE MY BUSINESS FROM GOOGLE
Sometimes businesses close rebrand or simply no longer need a Google presence. If you need to remove your business from Google, you might think it is as simple as pressing "delete" but Google does not make things that easy. While you cannot permanently erase a business listing you can remove it from public view or mark it as permanently closed.
The first step is to log into Google My Business and select the business profile you want to remove. From there go to Settings and look for the option to mark the business as permanently closed. This tells Google and your customers that you are no longer operating but keeps the listing available for reference.
If you want to completely remove the listing from Google Search and Maps you need to request ownership removal. Go to the Info section of your business profile click Remove Business and follow the prompts. This will detach your Google account from the listing, but the business may still appear in search results if Google has collected information from other sources.
For businesses that no longer exist and need to be fully deleted you can contact Google Support and request removal. However, this process can take time and Google may not approve it if the business has been verified and has a public presence.
If someone listed your business else or contains incorrect information that you cannot change you can suggest an edit through Google Maps by clicking "Suggest an Edit" and selecting "Remove this place." Google will review the request but there is no guarantee it will be removed immediately.
It is important to know that deleting a business profile does not erase customer reviews or past data. If you plan to reopen in the future or rebrand under a new name, consider updating the profile instead of deleting it.
Removing your business from Google is possible but it takes a few steps. Whether you mark it as permanently closed remove ownership or request deletion knowing your options ensures you make the right choice for your business.
