HOW TO REMOVE POWERED BY SHOPIFY
So, you’ve spent hours designing your Shopify store, carefully choosing colours, fonts, and images. It’s looking perfect, until you scroll down and see those dreaded words: “Powered by Shopify.” Not exactly the personalised touch you were going for, is it? Luckily, getting rid of it isn’t as tricky as Shopify might want you to think. Here’s how to do it.
The easiest way to remove the Powered by Shopify text is through Shopify’s theme editor, which doesn’t require any coding knowledge. First, log in to your Shopify Admin Dashboard and navigate to Online Store, then select Themes. Locate your active theme and click Actions, followed by Edit Default Theme Content. In the Filter box, type "Powered by Shopify", and a text box containing those words will appear. Simply delete them and press Save. Just like that, Shopify’s branding is gone, and your store now looks like it was built by an e-commerce genius (which, of course, you are).
If that method doesn’t work, or you prefer a more direct approach, you can remove the text by editing Shopify’s code directly. To do this, go to your Admin Panel, then select Online Store and Themes. Find your current theme, click Actions, then choose Edit Code. Once inside, locate the footer. Liquid file under the Sections directory. Open it and search for the code snippet (powered_by_link) using the search function (Ctrl + F for Windows or Command + F for Mac). Delete this piece of code, hit Save, and the Shopify branding will disappear forever.
Removing this text has no negative impact on your store. Shopify doesn’t penalise you for customising your theme in this way. Many professional stores remove Powered by Shopify to create a cleaner, more unique look. The only downside is that Shopify might feel a little unappreciated, but trust us, it’ll survive.
